Fire Marks
The Great Fire of London in September 1666 enabled the idea of fire insurance to flourish.
The first ‘Fire Marks’ were made of lead and were developed as a guide to the fire brigade.
The early ‘Fire Marks’ also included a number corresponding to the number on the insurance policy
